The night was restless, the sleep troubled. It was just a dream—a strange and haunting dream!
I was on a stormy beach. Mired in the sand was a boat. On the side of the boat was my company’s once proud name. Our team laboured to set it free.
The tide was coming in. My team called, “Hey boss, help push out the boat. The tide will make it easier!”
“It’s no use,” I moaned. “We’ve tried and tried but nothing works.”
The tide continued to rise. “Get over here and help, boss. After all—it’s your boat!”
“I just don’t feel the passion today,” was my reply. "There is talk of recession. We’ll likely take on water faster than we can bail!”
The tide had now crested and was beginning to recede. “Boss, get over here quick, there’s someone drowning out there!”
“Why didn’t you tell me? Move out of my way!” With the help of the adrenaline in my veins the boat popped out of the sand! In a moment we started the engine and raced to the drowning swimmer.
“Bring the boat along side so we can pull him in,” I cried!
We did just that—I reached down and grabbed his desperate hand. I looked at his face...
It was me...
